Winter is a formidable time for skin for two reasons: harsh winter weather outdoors, central heating and the effect of wearing extra layers of clothing indoors. A few easy tips can keep you in healthy skin all winter long. Sleep with a humidifier in your bedroom. It’s an easy way to moisturize while you sleep. Avoid hot showers and baths. Though the cold winter air makes a soak in a long, hot shower or bath that much more appealing, it's not recommended. Water upsets the moisture balance in skin, while the heat pulls more moisture out. It's best to take a quick shower, no more than five minutes, using lukewarm water.

Don’t omit the sunscreen. You may feel like you haven’t seen the sun in days, but unsafe UV rays are still making their way during the clouds. Choose a moisturizer with sunscreen built in. Daily moisturizing with a face cream and body lotion goes a long way to keep skin feeling and looking healthy.
