Home remedy for Teeth Whitening
Whitening of the teeth is performed for patients who desire a brighter smile. Teeth whitening is ideal for people who have healthy, unrestored teeth (no fillings) and gums. Teeth whitening methods most often use a form of peroxide to bleach the teeth and remove stains and discoloration. Brush on whitening gels are peroxide based gels that are applied with a small brush onto the front teeth. As the peroxide is broken down, oxygen enters the enamel and bleaches the colored substances. This lightens the natural color of the teeth without removing any of the tooth surface. Whitening toothpastes work by using mildly abrasive chemicals to remove surface stains. They do not contain bleach. Although some of them have polishing agents that make teeth cleaner and therefore looking whiter. Bleaching/Whitening strips were made to replace mouth guards and a bleaching solution. They are much more comfortable than a mouth tray because they are basically a sticky tape that you apply by placing the strips on your front teeth. Whitening strips are typically worn twice a day for a half an hour each time.
Many teeth whitening systems are available, including whitening toothpastes, over-the counter gels, strips and trays, and whitening agents obtained from a dentist. Teeth whitening is used to correct discoloration of the teeth by removing the brown and yellow staining. Teeth bleaching is chemical process used to lighten the color of the patient’s teeth. Teeth enamel discoloration can be caused by staining, aging, or chemical damage to teeth. As people grow older their teeth can become darker naturally. Tooth decay, fillings and tartar build-up can also all contribute to discolouration. Some of the more common causes of teeth discoloration are medications, coffee, tea or cigarettes. People who drink significant amounts of cola soft drinks can experience similar staining. Some types of staining can be caused by diseases or medicines. For example, if a type of antibiotic called tetracycline is given to children whose teeth are still developing, their adult teeth may form with a yellow or greenish tinge.
