Types Of Twin Pregnancies
A twin pregnancy places greater stress on a woman’s body. Twins may be identical or non-identical. Twin pregnancies can be monozygotic or dizygotic. Monozygotic twin pregnancies leads to one egg splitting into two after fertilization. Monozygotic twins are genetically identical except there has been a variations in development, and they are almost always the same gender. (On extremely rare occasions, an original XXY zygote can form monozygotic boy/girl twins by dropping the Y chromosome for one twin and the extra X chromosome for the other.) Monozygotic twins normally look alike, though betimes they appear as mirror images of each other. Dizygotic twins are brotherly twins where two eggs are fertilized by two different sperms at the same time.
Dizygotic twins, like any siblings have a very small risk of having the unequivocal same chromosome profile, but most likely have a number of different chromosomes which variates them. A twin pregnancy is more likely to occur in cases when there is a history of twins in the family, specially on the mother’s side.
The happenstances of multiple pregnancies increase when the mother is older, late 30s and beyond. There are numerous serious problems which may occur in twin pregnancies. At particular risk are pregnancies in which the twins portion a placenta. These are known as monochorionic (MC) twin pregnancies and they are by definition identical twins.
There are fundamentally always vascular connections in the placenta shared by the two fetuses in this situation. Many women are postponing pregnancy well into their 30s and beyond — when age-related hormonal changes may cause more than one egg to be released at a time. There some of the signals of a double pregnancy. Some groused that the sleepiness was ten times worse than previous pregnancies or what they expected from pregnancy.
Many mother increased nausea and vomiting, morning sickness. Blood sugar must be perpetually checked since twin pregnancies have a higher chance of causing gestational diabetes. Mothers of twin find that they possess more water than with singleton pregnancy.
