Cracked heels are a general foot problem. Cracked heels is a situation of thickening and fissuring of the skin on the heel of the foot. Cracked heels are commonly caused by dry skin (xerosis), and made more problematic if the skin surrounding the rim of the heel is thick (callus). Cracked heels are usually referred to as fissures. When the fissures are deep, the skin bleeds easily and causes a lot of pain.

Cracked heels are often known as fissures. Occassionally it may get deep into the dermis and become painful. Extreme pressure on the feet pads make the feet want to expand sideways. As the skin, environing the sides of the feet are dry they crack and cause cracked heels. Complexion of cracked heels also indicate zinc and omega-3 fatty acid deficiency.

The heels emerges yellow or dark brown depending on the skin type and are normally accompanied by dry skin. Signs include a hard growth of skin, usually on the outer edge of the heel. Cracked heels are a symptom of lack of attention to foot care rather than just overexposure or lack of moisturizing. Cracked feet, corns and other common feet complaint can be attended to and are easily avoidable.

Cracked heels are a common circumstance for senior citizens or people who are constantly on their feet thus wielding pressure on the feet pad. It can influence either both the heels or one of the heel. But most commonly, cracked heels affect both the feet. In serious cases cracked heels can become infected, and lead to cellulitis. Cracked heels are of specific concern for diabetic patients.

The perfect form of treatment for cracked heels is to prevent them from occurring in the first place. Avoid wearing open backed shoes or light soled shoes. A twice-daily application of any good oil based moisturizing cream is very effectual in preventing dry, cracked heels. Never try to shear down the hard skin your self with a razor blade or a pair of scissors. Wear shoes with a good shock absorbing sole. Keep feet clean and dirt free.

Exercise the feet daily. Surrogate hot and cold water for a feet bath to soothe the feet. Avoid walking bare feet as much as likely. The use of a pumice stone can reduce the thickness of the hard skin. A regular actuation of a mixture of glycerin and rosewater is known to soothe and cure cracked heels.

Dyshidrotic eczema is a recurrent or chronic weakening form of vesicular palmoplantar dermatitis. The ailment counterfeit teenagers and adults and may be acute, recurrent, or chronic. A more befitting term for this vesicular outburst is pompholyx, which means bubble. Genetic component to the formation of pompholyx may be complicated in some patients. Pompholyx has been narrated in few large families, so no gene or locus had been identified (Chen, 2006). A genome-wide search in a large Chinese family identified a locus at chromosome 18q22.1-18q22.3, with a maximum 2-point logarithm of the odds.

Dyshidrotic eczema is a recurrent disorder of the palmar and/ or plantar skin categorized by sudden eruptions of clear, mostly pruritic vesicles. Sweat gland dysfunction or sweat retaining capacity do not perform the pathogenetic part which has been assigned to them in the past, though some degree of hyperhidrosis occurs in many of the affected patients. Etiologic factors for dyshidrotic eczema have atopy, contact allergy, continous irritation, primary fungal infections and fungal id-reactions. An idiopathic form is also accepted. Smoking and excessive coffee usage are believed to play an enhanced role.

Small fluid filled lesion named vesicles appear on the hands and feet. Dyshidrotic eczema can harm people of any age but visible to be more common in men between the ages of 20 and 50. There may be a genetic block to the disorder. It has also been indicted that it could be caused by an allergic reaction to something in the environment. Experts doubt that nickel, balsam, and cobalt can cause the allergic response. Nickel is present in costume jewelry, while other material are used in manufacturing. They are most public along the edges of the fingers, toes, palms and soles. The vesicles cause intense itching. Scratching results to skin changes with thickening. Scratching can also result to secondary infections.

Dyshidrotic eczema may appear in both men and women Dyshidrotic eczema was once resembles to be because of trapping of sweat beneath thick skin of the palms and soles. The skin of the palms, sides of the fingers, and soles of the feet react to something in the environment by forming itchy blisters.

Dermatitis Herpetiformis Alternative name Duhring’s disease. Dermatitis herpetiformis is a prolonged ailment, extremely itchy rash having bumps and blisters. The disease is differentiated by the occurence of IgA deposits in the upper dermis skin and the diagnosis cannot be made in the absence of these deposits. The HLA-B8 gene is present in 80% of patients with gluten enteropathy and dermatitis herpetiformis.

Dermatitis herpetiformis is coupled to sensitivity of the intestine to gluten in the diet (celiac sprue). Dermatitis Herpetiformis is a disease of the skin. It is caused by deposition of IgA in the papillary dermis. This triggers an immune cascade, including recruitment of neutrophils and complement into the area. Dermatitis herpetiformis is an autoimmune burning complaint related with a gluten-sensitive enteropathy (GSE). It is clasiffied by grouped abrasion; erythematous, urticarial plaques; and papules having vesicles. There is effective evidence that the changes in the intestinal mucosa and the immunologic findings in most of the patients diagnosed with DH are alike with those found in celiac disease.

Dermatitis Herpetiformis has currently been suggested as a cutaneous manifestation of asymptomatic-to-mild CD. The genetic predisposition to the development of gluten sensitivity underlies the disease. Most DH patients can usually predict the location of a new lesion as much as 8 to 12 hours before the actual onset because of the symptoms of localized burning and itching.

Lesions occurring on the lips and within the mouth, it is extremely unusual for lesions to occur on mucous membranes (soft tissues at body openings) in other areas of the body. These lesions tend to occur in groups much like the lesions of Herpes, hence the term herpetiformis, meaning “like Herpes.” Because of the intense itching, the lesions are usually scratched; these affected areas will then mature crusts and then heal with changes in color, either those of hypopigmentation or hyperpigmentation. Lesions may first emerge as discolorations and next includes of small bumps called papules and small blisters called vesicles.

Allergic contact dermatitis is an itchy skin condition caused by an allergic reaction to material in contact with the skin. Contact dermatitis is a localized rash or irritation of the skin caused by contact with a foreign substance. Adults are affected by allergic contact dermatitis more than young children or the elderly. Irritant dermatitis, the most common type of contact dermatitis, involves inflammation resulting from contact with acids, alkaline materials such as soaps and detergents, solvents, or other chemicals. The reaction usually resembles a burn.Plants, as well as metals, cosmetics, and medications may also cause a contact dermatitis reaction. Common causes of irritant contact dermatitis are harsh (highly alkaline) soaps, nickel, detergents, and cleaning products. There are three types of contact dermatitis: irritant contact, allergic contact, and photocontact dermatitis. Irritant contact is the most common form of contact dermatitis. ICD can be caused by either an acute or chronic exposure to a toxic insult. It is caused by either chemical or physical irritants. People who do a lot of wetwork (mothers of small children, hairdressers, nurses, chefs) are very prone to developing ICD.

Allergic Contact Dermatitis (ACD) condition is the manifestation of an allergic response caused by contact with a substance. An allergic reaction does not generally occur the first time one is exposed to a particular substance but on subsequent exposures , which can cause dermatitis in 4 to 24 hours. They can only cause their response as part of a complete antigen, involving their association with epidermal proteins forming hapten-protein conjugates. This, in turn, requires them to be protein-reactive. Some products cause a reaction only when they contact the skin and are exposed to sunlight (photosensitivity). These include shaving lotions, sunscreens, sulfa ointments, some perfumes, coal tar products, and oil from the skin of a lime. Typical allergic symptoms caused by airborne allergens include sneezing, runny nose and nasal congestion (allergic rhinitis or hay fever). When an allergy victim’s eyes are affected, they may experience itchy, watery and red eyes. Inhaling airborne allergens may cause reduced lung capacity and difficulty breathing.

Allergic Contact Dermatitis develops after repeated allergen exposure and is a T cell mediated delayed skin hypersensitivity to common metals, dyes, rubber products and cosmetics. Neomycin antibiotic creams is the most common cause of medication contact dermatitis. Irritant contact dermatitis accounts for over 80% of all contact dermatitis. Allergic dermatitis is usually confined to the area where the trigger actually touched the skin, whereas irritant dermatitis may be more widespread on the skin. Photocontact Dermatitis (PCD) is the eczematous condition which is triggered by an interaction between an otherwise unharmful or less harmful substance on the skin and ultraviolet light, therefore manifesting itself only in regions where the sufferer has been exposed to such rays. Photocontact dermatitis is another condition where the distinction between forms of contact dermatitis is not clear cut. Immunological mechanisms can also play a part, causing a response similar to ACD.

Treatment of Contact Allergy Tips

1. Corticosteroid medication similar to hydrocortisone may be prescribed to combat inflammation in a localized area. This medication may be applied to your skin as a cream or ointment

2. Prescription antihistamines may be given if nonprescription strengths are inadequate.

3. Immediately after exposure to a known allergen or irritant, wash with soap and cool water to remove or inactivate most of the offending substance.

4. If blistering develops, cold moist compresses applied for 30 minutes 3 times a day can offer relief.

5. Calamine lotion and cool collodial oatmeal baths may relieve itching.

6. Oral antihistamines such as diphenhydramine (Benadryl, Ben-Allergin) can also relieve itching.

7. For mild cases that cover a relatively small area, hydrocortisone cream in nonprescription strength may be sufficient.

8. Since contact dermatitis relies on an irritant or an allergen to initiate the reaction, it is important for the patient to identify the responsible agent and avoid it.

9. Avoid scratching, as this can cause secondary infections.

10. Suspicion is applied several times daily for several days to a small area of sensitive skin.

It doesn’t matter how thick or thin you are, most women are prone to deposits of cellulite. These are gender specific (that’s right for women only!) deposits of dense fat that are caught in the network of fibers that make up the structure of the body.

To understand this you have to picture your body as being enclosed in a large network of tissue that looks like a fish net of interconnecting tissue. How much this tissue can expand is non negotiable. Since the connective tissue is not as elastic as the skin,it will only stretch so far while being acted on by the force of expanding fat cells. When fat deposits become trapped beneath this network, called the superficial fascia, the net is stretched and its fatty contents bulge out in an unattractive way that is often described as looking like cottage cheese, orange peel or gravel.

Why don’t these stubborn deposits of fat just melt away like regular fat? The law of Mother Nature in this case is that the greater the area of fat concentration the harder it is to get rid of. The minute your total body fat exceeds 25% in a woman, you will develop cellulite.

Sometimes you can get rid of the fat but not the gnarly connective tissue that was created to accommodate the extra fat cells in the first place. Areas of the body that have a high ratio of fat to muscle (for example the thighs, hips and buttock area in women) are particularly hard to smooth out once they have become pocked with cellulite.

Getting rid of cellulite is not as easy as exercising and limiting your caloric intake. As many women know you can get extremely thin, almost skeletal and still have lumps of cellulite showing In fact, if you lose too much weight the cellulite bumps and dents can be even further highlighted.

Usually getting rid of cellulite requires a complete lifestyle overhaul. This usually starts with some kind of detoxifying or cleansing diet and then a permanent modification of your exercise and eating habits. Circuit training that involves an hour of aerobic exercise and weight training is thought to be the best cure for this common problem. Drinking tons of water and eating fruits and vegetables that are water dense may also help get rid of these stubborn deposits of fat.
