Macrolides are a set of antibiotics which act against bacteria by interfering with the way their internal chemical reactions occur. They are most commonly used in chest, sinus and ear infections. They can interact worsely with theophylline, which is used by some asthmatics and is in some cough mixtures. The people who are allergic to penicillin are also allergic to erythromycin. They are gettable as tablets, mixtures and injections.
