Xiphoidalgia - Symptoms & Treatment
Xiphoidalgia is inflammation of the xiphoid, that occurs for unknown reason. Significant pain and succulence of the xiphoid cartilage occurs, worse with chest movement (eg. deep breath, cough). The xiphoid or xiphisternum is a piece of cartilage at the nethermost end of the breast bone (sternum) that sticks down into the gap between the ribs on either side. Irritation of primitive stomach may cause nausea and vomiting. Anti-inflammatory medications, anti-inflammatory and anaesthetic injections, or steroids can be used for regimen. The pain becalms with time and treatment.
