Home Remedies for Dysentery

  • Grate one raw papaya. Add 3 cups water, boil for 10 mins, strain and finish the water in one day.
  • Eat a finely chopped raw onion in a cup of yogurt every day.
  • Lemon juice is good for treating ordinary type of dysentery. Drink 1/2 tsp of dry ginger 3 - 4 times a day. It is also a good remedy for diarrhea. Ripe bel syrup offers a successful treatment for dysentery with mucous.
  • The use of basil leaves mixed with sugar cures dysentery. Make a paste of dry pomegranate seeds (Anardana) and Raisin (Kishmis) with a little of salt in it.
  • Small pieces of onions mixed with curd can be given to the suffering person upto six times daily.
  • Take 2 tsp. of castor oil mixed in hot milk as soon as you notice mucous in the stool. It will give prompt relief. Taking black pepper is useful for patients of dysentery.
