Home Remedies for Piles - Piles Herbal Home Treatment

A pile is one of the soft pads which has slipped downwards slenderly, because the surrounding tissue is not holding it in place properly. Piles or haemorrhoids is one of the most common disorder today. It is a varicose and usually inflamed condition of the veins, inside or just outside the rectum.

Piles are swellings on the inside of the anal canal, the short, muscular tube which connects the rectum (back passage) with the anus, in areas called as the anal cushions. They are round swellings which can reach the size of a grape.

Piles are not varicose veins. The causes of hemorrhoids are genetic predisposition, straining during bowel movements. Hypertension, specially in the portal vein, can also cause hemorrhoids because of the connections between the portal vein and the vena cava.

Piles tend to be caused by factors that cause the blood vessels to swell, including anything that increases pressure inside the abdomen such as constipation, pregnancy and being overweight. Piles can occur at any age, but are more common in older people. They affect both men and women.

In fact, most people suffer from piles at some time, but usually they are nothing more than a temporary problem. Prevention of hemorrhoids includes drinking more fluids, eating more dietary fiber, exercising, practicing better posture, and reducing bowel movement strain and time. Wash the area gently with warm, salty water, to get rid of irritant mucus that has leaked out. Avoid constipation by eating lots of fresh fruit and vegetables and bran cereal.

Avoid becoming overweight, and lose weight if you are. Soothing creams, ointments and suppositories can soothe pain and itchiness. Wear loose underwear and clothing, so that nothing will rub the pile.

Piles can be easily prevented and even medicated in mild cases by using some of the potent home remedies. Mango seeds are an effective remedy for bleeding piles. The seeds should be gathered during the mango season, dried in the shade, powdered, and kept stored for use as medicine.

The leaves of turnip have been found useful in this disease. Ginger is also useful in this disease. Rice has a very low fibre content and is, therefore, extremely soothing to the digestive system. The herb chebulic myroblan is a popular remedy for piles.
