A wound is a type of physical trauma where in the skin is torn, cut or perforated (an open wound). Wounds involves cuts, scrapes, scratches and punctured skin. They usually occur as a result of an accident or injury, but surgical slits, sutures, and stitches also cause wounds.

Minor wounds usually aren't severe, but even cuts and scrapes need care. To avoid infection and aid healing. Open wounds can be divided into a number of different types, according to the object which caused the wound.

Incisions which include only the epidermis are legitimately classified as cuts, rather than wounds. An avulsion is a violent tearing or partial tearing away of tissues. It happens in such accidents as gunshot wounds, explosions, animal bites or other body-crushing injuries.

Bleeding is heavy and frequent. To avoid infection and aid healing. Exert pressure with a clean cloth to stop bleeding. Clean the wound with water. Use an antibiotic ointment to prevent infection.

Cleanse the wound with soap and water (or hydrogen peroxide) as throughly as possible. Wounds can be easily prevented and even treated in mild cases by using some of the potent home remedies. Wash the wound well, apply ground ginger on it and bandage the wound. Tie the ripe, clean leaves of banana onto the wounds, to clear it from pus foul odor.

Change this dressing twice a day. Apply turmeric powder over the wound and dress it with a bandage. Turmeric powder will stop the bleeding. Paste the leaves of Bael (Bel) leaves without adding water. Apply this on pus-oozing wounds to get relief. Smoking interferes with blood supply and collagen metabolism thereby delaying the healing process. So avoid smoking.

Home Remedies for Wounds

  • Apply garlic on the wound or cut. Wash the wound well, apply ground ginger on it and bandage the wound.
  • Chamomile flower minimises swelling and prevents infection.
  • Yarrow rapids up the clotting of blood in cuts. Involve high amounts of garlic and onions in your diet. Avoid dairy products, sugar and white flour.
  • Apply apple cider vinegar and cold water on the bruise.
  • Applying raw egg on the bruise also helps.
  • Apply turmeric powder over the wound and dress it with a bandage.
  • Apply of old coconut oil (not fresh oil) heals wounds and burns quickly.
