Infertility - - Symptoms & Treatment
Infertility is also known as subfertility. Unable to carry a pregnancy and naturally conceive a child is a condition of infertility. In order to get pregnant
- A woman must release an egg from one of her ovaries (ovulation).
- The egg must go through a fallopian tube toward the uterus (womb).
- A man's sperm must join with (fertilize) the egg along the way.
- The fertilized egg must attach to the inside of the uterus (implantation).
- There is incapability to carry a pregnancy to term.
Symptoms of Infertility
There are no signs and symptoms of infertility in men. But women with infertility have following signs and symptoms:-
- Problems during activities.
- Irregular menstrual periods
- Enlarged breasts
- Change in voice
- Excess growth in hair.
Causes of Infertility
The main cause of infertility is wrong complex process in one or both. Woman's brain sends a signal to ovaries by the pituitary gland to make an egg for ovulation. The causes of female infertility:
There are many causes of female infertility such as endometriosis, elevated prolactin, early menopause, fallopian tube blockage and damage, ovulation disorders, pelvic adhesions and polycystic ovary syndrome.
Causes of male infertility:
There are many causes of male infertility such as impaired shape and movement of sperm, cryptorchidism, low sperm concentration, klinefelter's syndrome, varicocele, infections and blockage of ejaculatory ducts.

- Thyroid problems
- Medications
- Medical conditions such as HIV/AIDS, diabetes or kidney disease
- Certain cancers
Treatment of Infertility

- Fertility medication which stimulates the ovaries to "ripen" and release eggs (e.g. clomifene citrate , which stimulates ovulation) Surgery to restore patency of obstructed fallopian tubes( ouboplasty )
- Donor insemination which involves the woman being artificially inseminated with donor sperm.
- In vitro fertilization (IVF) in which eggs are removed from the woman, fertilized and then placed in the woman's uterus, bypassing the fallopian tubes.

- Endometriosis requires drug therapy (danazol or medroxyprogesterone, or noncyclic administration of oral contraceptives), surgical removal of areas of endometriosis, or a combination of both.
